Geert and Jo working on Global Pet Sitter

About Us

Built by house sitters. For the community.

Who We Are

Global Pet Sitter was founded by Geert and Jo, two Belgian developers who happen to be long-term house sitters with 40+ sits across Europe. We have each spent over a decade building software, and house sitting has been a big part of how we travel and live.

Jo lives on a sailboat in Spain, and splits his time between building software and moving from place to place. Before house sitting he did a lot of couchsurfing and fell in love with that sense of community, the trust between strangers, a kind of travel that isn't transactional.

Geert is based in Luxembourg with an economics background and a self-taught dev career that's taken him through startups and scale-ups in Belgium. He got into house sitting back in 2014, the perfect combination of travel, work and his love for pets.

After years of house sitting, we have a pretty clear picture of what works and what doesn't. Eventually, we realised we possess the skills to build this ourselves so that's what we ended up doing. Being 2 co-founders means short communication lines, and fast iteration. Every idea gets challenged before it goes live, we actively listen to the community's feedback and we move fast.

What Makes Global Pet Sitter Different

No booking fees, ever

One annual subscription that gives you access to everything. No hidden fees, no booking fees, no surprise charges, no fine print. The price you see is the price you pay.

Built with the community

Members request and upvote features on our public roadmap, and we use it when deciding what to build next. It's not a suggestion box that disappears into a void.

Independently owned and bootstrapped

No venture capital. No private equity. We answer to our community, not investors. Your feedback shapes what we build.

Features for sitters and pet owners

Welcome guides, couple sitter support, direct messaging outside the application flow, no application caps, better filters. Small things on their own but they add up.

Trust & Safety

Every sitter and owner gets ID verified before they can apply for or post sits. You can also import reviews from other platforms, so your track record comes with you.

Blind reviews

Both sides write their review independently and you can't see what the other person wrote until both submit or 14 days pass. It's not just a star rating either. Sitters get rated on reliability, pet care, and cleanliness while owners get rated on communication, hospitality, and listing accuracy.

Private reporting

Some things like hygiene issues, pet welfare concerns, or safety problems shouldn't play out publicly. Private reports go straight to us, categorised by type and severity, which over time exposes patterns that would otherwise stay hidden.

Fair Pricing

Our long-term target is โ‚ฌ100/year. One price whether you're a sitter, owner, or both, and you can switch roles at any time. We want this to be a platform people enjoy using at a price that feels fair. Until we're fully established with a solid amount of sit assignments, memberships will remain heavily discounted. We'll also be exploring insurance options down the road, but we want to get it right - that takes proper research, so no rushed add-ons.

Founding Members

Right now membership is free for anyone who joins before we hit 3,000 members. During this phase early adopters can stack lifetime % discounts up to 100% by referring others and sharing our platform on social media.

Whatever discount you have at the moment we hit 3000 members locks in permanently. One of our members referred so many people she reached the 100% discount milestone and she'll never pay a subscription fee. That's not a gimmick, that's someone who believed in what we're building and convinced a lot of people to do the same.

Community-Driven

"Community-driven" gets thrown around a lot, so let us be specific about what it means for us.

Every member can request features on our roadmap page and others can upvote them. We actually use this when planning what to build next. The blind review system got sharper because of member input, and visa warnings on sit assignments came directly from a community suggestion.

We read every DM, every comment, every piece of feedback. Product decisions come from real experience rather than assumptions, and honestly the community has given us some amazing input already, which is exactly how it should work.

Help Us Spread the Word

The best growth comes from people telling their friends, and you can't buy that.

Every referral stacks your lifetime discount, so share GPS with fellow pet lovers and help us build something worth talking about.
