Who’s Behind Global Pet Sitter (and How We Think About Trust)

Who are the people building this—and why should I trust them?

We’re Builders First, Pet Lovers Always

We’re two pet-loving developers, born and raised in Belgium.

Geert lives in Luxembourg and has been housesitting for over 10 years. Most of that time was spent on TrustedHousesitters, alongside experiences with Nomador and MindMyHouse. He watched these platforms grow—and, over time, drift away from what made them special.
Jo lives on a sailboat in Spain and has been a couchsurfer since the early days. He’s deeply drawn to community-driven platforms and alternative ways of living, traveling, and sharing spaces.

Between us, we’ve worked for start-ups and scale-ups for years, building products that real people rely on. We’re also supported by our girlfriends, who work in big tech and help challenge our thinking when we get too deep in “developer mode.”

Why We’re Building This

We didn’t start Global Pet Sitter because we thought the world needed “another platform.”

We started it because we used the existing ones—and slowly felt they were no longer being built for the people who actually rely on them.

More fees.
More friction.
Less transparency.
Less control.

So we asked ourselves: what would this look like if it were built today, from scratch, by people who actually use it?

That question still guides every decision we make.

Independence Matters to Us

Right now, we’re building Global Pet Sitter in our spare time, with the goal of transitioning this into our full-time focus.

We’re intentionally staying independent:

No investors
No growth-at-all-costs pressure
No acquisition plans

That gives us the freedom to optimize for the community—not for short-term metrics.

How We Think About Trust & Safety

Trust is the foundation of housesitting. Without it, nothing else works.

Here’s how we’re approaching it:

We’re actively working on ID verification features
While the community is still small, we manually review anything that looks suspicious
As we grow, we’re building more robust vetting and safety systems alongside the product

We’re not pretending trust is “solved.” We’re building it deliberately, step by step, with transparency.
