Last updated: Mar 1 2026

San Antonio blends rich history with a growing pet-friendly culture. While the famous River Walk in the downtown core has limited pet access, the city's sprawling park system, greenway trails, and suburban neighborhoods provide excellent outdoor opportunities for dogs. The city's warm climate allows year-round outdoor activity, though summer temperatures exceeding 100°F demand careful heat management. San Antonio's relatively affordable cost of living compared to Austin and Dallas makes it attractive for pet sitters, and the city has been steadily expanding its dog park network and pet-friendly business scene.
